Warranty & Guarantee
Introduction
Who this policy applies to and what it covers.
This Warranty & Guarantee Policy sets out the terms under which Elite MOT Ltd ("we", "us", "our") provides warranty cover for parts supplied and workmanship carried out at our premises.
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under applicable UK consumer protection legislation.
Workmanship warranty
Cover provided for labour and installation.
We warrant that all labour carried out by us will be performed with reasonable care and skill. Where a defect arises directly as a result of our workmanship, we will, at our discretion, re-perform the defective work free of labour charge.
The workmanship warranty is valid for a period of 12 months or 12,000 miles (whichever occurs first) from the date of invoice, unless otherwise stated in writing.
This warranty applies solely to the specific repair undertaken and does not extend to unrelated vehicle components.
Parts warranty
How manufacturer cover applies to supplied parts.
All parts supplied and fitted by us are covered by the manufacturer's warranty applicable to those parts. Where a manufacturer provides a defined warranty period, that period shall apply.
Unless otherwise specified, parts supplied by us are warranted for 12 months from the date of invoice.
If a supplied part is found to be defective within the applicable warranty period, we will arrange inspection and replacement in accordance with the manufacturer's warranty procedure. Labour costs associated with replacing defective parts will be covered only where the failure is attributable to a defect in the part itself and accepted by the supplier.
Parts supplied at customer request (including budget or economy alternatives) are covered only to the extent provided by the manufacturer.
Exclusions
Situations and items that are not covered.
This warranty does not cover fair wear and tear, including but not limited to brake pads, brake discs, clutches, tyres, bulbs and wiper blades.
This warranty does not cover failures caused by misuse, neglect, accident damage, modification, corrosion, environmental factors, or failure to maintain the vehicle in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
This warranty does not cover consequential losses including recovery charges, loss of earnings, loss of vehicle use, or damage to other components not directly caused by our workmanship.
This warranty does not cover repairs carried out to rectify pre-existing faults not identified at the time of inspection.
This warranty does not apply to vehicles used for motorsport, commercial heavy-duty use beyond normal road operation, or vehicles that have been modified from manufacturer specification unless expressly agreed in writing.
Welding repairs are structural and safety-focused in nature. We do not undertake cosmetic restorations or full vehicle rebuilds, and such work is expressly excluded from warranty cover.
Customer-supplied parts
Fitting parts you provide.
Where customers request that we fit parts not supplied by us, no warranty is provided on those parts. Our workmanship warranty will apply only to the installation itself and not to the quality, suitability or performance of the supplied component.
We reserve the right to decline fitting customer-supplied parts.
MOT testing
What an MOT pass does and does not mean.
An MOT test is a statutory inspection conducted in accordance with DVSA regulations at the time of test.
A pass certificate confirms that the vehicle met the minimum legal standard on the date and time of inspection only. It does not guarantee the ongoing condition of the vehicle.
Repairs undertaken to address MOT failures are covered under the workmanship and parts terms outlined in this policy.
Making a claim
Process and required steps for inspection.
If you believe a fault has arisen which may be covered under this warranty, you must notify us as soon as reasonably practicable and before any third party undertakes repair work.
The vehicle must be returned to our premises for inspection. We reserve the right to inspect and diagnose the concern prior to authorising any remedial work.
Failure to provide us the opportunity to inspect the vehicle may invalidate the warranty claim.
Limitation of liability
Scope of remedy and legal limits.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of defective parts or re-performance of defective workmanship.
Nothing in this policy excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability which cannot be excluded under UK law.
Trade and commercial customers
Additional terms for business-to-business work.
Where services are supplied to business customers, liability is limited to the direct cost of the repair work undertaken by us. Indirect or consequential losses are excluded to the extent permitted by law.
General and governing law
Updates and legal jurisdiction.
This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
We reserve the right to amend this warranty policy at any time. The version applicable shall be the one in force at the date of invoice.
