Diagnostics

Fault finding and diagnosis

Modern vehicles rely on complex mechanical and electronic systems. Accurate diagnosis requires the right equipment and a structured approach.

If the issue was identified during an MOT inspection, you can review what is assessed in our guide to what the MOT covers.

Up-to-date diagnostic equipment
We use appropriate scan tools and software to read live data, stored fault codes, and system behaviour relevant to the vehicle.
Systematic fault-finding
Diagnosis follows a logical inspection process. We confirm the cause rather than replacing parts on assumption.
Electronic and driveability issues
Warning lights, intermittent faults, hesitation, misfires, starting problems, and abnormal behaviour investigated thoroughly.
Root Cause Diagnosis
We identify the root cause before recommending repairs, reducing unnecessary parts replacement and avoiding repeat visits.
Clear technical explanation
We explain what has been found, what requires attention, and what may be monitored, so you can make an informed decision.

MOT repairs

MOT failure repairs

We carry out MOT tests and can usually complete any required rectification work. If your vehicle has failed an MOT elsewhere, bring the failure sheet and we will assess it objectively and advise on the best next step.

If you are unsure what your result means, read our MOT pass or fail explanation before arranging repairs.

Brakes & tyres
Pads, discs, imbalance, tyre condition and other common MOT failure items affecting safety and performance.
Suspension & steering
Excessive play, worn components, leaks and mounting faults identified during inspection.
Lighting & electrical
Inoperative bulbs, warning lamps, aim issues and related electrical defects affecting compliance.
Structural repairs
Welding and structural rectification where required to meet MOT safety standards.

What we do not do

Scope of work

We focus on mechanical, safety-related and MOT rectification work. If a repair falls outside that scope, we will advise you early.

Restorations & cosmetic rebuilds

We do not undertake full vehicle restorations, cosmetic refurbishments, or long-term rebuild projects. Our welding work is limited to structural and safety-related repairs.

Non-viable repairs

Where structural integrity or safety cannot be assured, we will not carry out temporary or unsuitable repairs. Safety and compliance come first.
